According to the reference, this set of test matrices is supplied by Chuck Siewert of North Carolina State University. The application background of these matrices is not clear. The objective is to compute those eigenvalues with magnitude greater than 1. The matrices have several multiple eigenvalues and clustered eigenvalues. The eigenvalues occur in clusters of order 4; each cluster consists of two pairs of very nearly multiple eigenvalues.
