SIAM Activity Group on Orthogonal Polynomials and Special Functions
Purpose
The purpose of this Activity Group is to promote basic research in
orthogonal polynomials and special functions; to further the
application of this subject in other parts of mathematics, and in
science and industry; and to encourage and support the exchange of
information, ideas and techniques between workers in this field, and
other mathematicians and scientists.
The Activity Group consists of a broad set of mathematicians, both
pure
and applied. The Group includes engineers and scientists,
students as well as experts. We now have around 150 members scattered
about in more than 20 countries. Whatever your specialty might be, we
welcome your participation in this classical, and yet modern, topic.
We organize symposia, usually at the Annual
SIAM Meetings and we publish an
electronic newsletter OP-SF NET six times
a year.
