RFC: DLMF Content Dictionaries
Work in Progress
Quick Links to Virtual Content Dictionaries
- JSON
This (temporary) site presents a draft of Content Dictionaries and symbols derived from the ‘semantic macros’ in use by the Digital Library of Mathematical Functions project.
Cataloging these functions is also intended to support the Special Function Concordance effort of the World Digital Mathematics Library (See https://www.mathunion.org/ceic/library/world-digital-mathematics-library-wdml).
The organization of the Content Dictionaries here is keyed to the topics covered in DLMF Chapters and, in many cases, broken down further into subgroups according to categories such as zeros, -analogs, etc. The naming of the symbols, themselves, is based on the naming convention used for the DLMF Macro set (under development and to be released) (See 2 for an overview of these conventions).
The Content Dictionaries are currently ‘virtual’ ones, rather than actual OpenMath dictionaries in XML format. They contain: name, description, parameter and arguments, function signature (types) and the url of the defining equation or section in DLMF.
The intent is to refine and further formalize these dictionaries converting the definition urls into Defining Mathematical Properties and so forth.
Please send any comments to mailto:bruce.miller@nist.gov; they would be greatly appreciated.
