Interior and Exterior Harmonics in a 5-Cyclidic Coordinate SystemHans Volkmer
Department of Mathematical Sciences, UWM
Tuesday, January 28, 2014 15:00-16:00,
In 1894 Maxime Bocher determined all coordinate systems in three dimensions in which the Laplacian separates. Although much is known about the corresponding harmonic functions in some of the coordinate systems, very little progress has been achieved in the case of the general 5-cyclidic coordinate system. The talk will present some new results originating from joint work with Howard Cohl.
