Video Frame Interpolation as a Recovery Mechanism for Network Errors

William Majurski, ACMD
Kesh Bakhru, Cubic Defense Systems

Digital Video encoding and transmission formats generally assume the underlying network is error free. Traditional methods of error free transmission rely on retransmission of lost packets. Video, as a real-time application, cannot afford the time required to use retransmission schemes. The use of interleaving and forward error correction can reduce the amount of lost information and distribute the loss so as to minimize the affects. Interpolation schemes are then required to fix the video signal to cover up the errors. This project focuses on the development and evaluation interpolation schemes.

This project has just started.
